I have a master excel product file on a ftp server that I open, copy all data and paste into my working workbook. I have tried to use the data connection options in Excel that seems to only import the header. Please can someone advise how I can get excel to automatically fetch the data from the ftp server when i open my workbook? Thanks.
Instead of data connection options, have you tried From Other Sources under the Data tab? Click From Other Sources, then click From XML Data Import. You might have to change the file type to All Files to show the one you want then select it.

The other sources seem to work on a text file however I would like to open the excel file as it is. Any ideas?
It should work with an excel file, that is how I am using it. I have information from 4 excel files that are on a server that update to a master excel file every time it is opened. It copies formatting and the table.
Managed to import it once although it had the F keys on each header. Forgot what i did. When importing and when it asks 'where do you want to put data? =$A$1'. What should this be if the sheet is called 'products'? Thanks.
If there is more than 1 sheet it should give you a list to select from. The =$A$1 will be the starting cell from the information to be started in, so if A1 is ok with you, then leave it as is.
It imports but only the first row. Also each column has F1, F2 etc.. The sheets has over 5000 rows.
Ok, I'm not sure why that is happening. IT should just copy the entire sheet over as it is with formatting and everything.
Just worked it out. I was deleting the contents of the sheet before importing. I left the data in and made the connection. Everything imported fine. Thanks for your help. San

Sorry haven't done VB in over 20 years. I understand some lines. Can you explain what each line does?
