Disable dragging certain fields into the pivot table

I want to limit the fields that an end user can choose to drag and drop into the pivot table. Is there a way to disable certain fields from being selected?

Can you not just leave those fields out of the PT range definition by making them the last columns in the underlying data and not including them?

I could, but I need for the columns to be aligned how they currently are. There's a logical flow to them as they're split in specific sections.

What I would like to do is block some of the fields from being dragged in the pivot.

    Hi,

I don't understand. The column layout of the PT can be anything you want, it doesn't matter how the underlying data looks so whether you have the data from say columns A, B & C laid out in reverse order in C, B A the PT is oblivious, they're just field headers to the PT
