Is it possible to have 1 workbook automatically update its links?

I want to build a file that will have many links tied to multiple other files that would update the links at a specific time. I have autosave.xla enabled on the source files, but want to build a master file that would update certain values from those files at a given time (say ten minutes after the hour). Is it possible to do this without closing and reopening the file (update automatically without any user inputs)?
