    Label printing dashboard

    Hey,

    So, I print a lot.
Recently I've created a new set of labels and overviews in Excel that I print on a daily basis.

Considering the fact that I print roughly ~200 labels daily, it gets tiresome to manually print x number of labels.
I started thinking about setting up some sort of macro or VBA (probably a combination) to make a lot of the printing automated.
I've tried googling for a while, but since I don't even know specifically what to search for or what it should contain, I feel kinda helpless.

Since I am unskilled with macros and VBA, I come here to ask for some assistance.
If there are (I guess there probably are) existing forum posts or webpages that cover my particular request, I'd very much appreciate directions.
Otherwise, I'd be very greatful for any and all assistance.

I've added a simplified version of my spreadsheet to this post.

In the dash tab, I've created a short summary of information required to print the labels and overviews.
I have several different types of labels and overviews, but have only added one specific one to this sheet.

At the top of the dash you can choose which label/overview to use from a drop down list (TITLE Ex1).
From here I go to add date and time.
Below this, I've entered random amounts of various items which are to be added to either label or overview (see corresponding items in label and overview tab).

At the bottom of the Dash tab I've added a couple placeholder print "buttons".
What I would like for to happen when I press the "LABEL" button, is that it will print the corresponding number of labels relating to amount of various subitems.
The labels use a specific printer with specific settings, I'd also like the button to automatically apply these when I click it.

Furthermore, Subitem3 to Subitem5 have specific names attached to them (need to be entered manually) - when clicking the LABEL button I'd like a prompt in which I can add the names, which will then appear on the labels.

The OVERVIEW button should print just a regular A4 landscape page using my system's default printer, containing the information and design in the Overview tab.

I realize I'm asking a Lot - heck, I don't even know if it's possible without extensive work.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Label printing dashboard

snottus, I'm pretty sure what you ask is possible, but I'm not 100% sure I understand it all. On Ex1 Label tab you have 2 label templates I guess? Why 2? or is it just to show the 2 that would print? I am not sure I follow all the details of what data goes where, and what the meaning of the subitems is in Dash. I assume Ex2 would have its own tab with a label template? As far as the specific settings to apply, it usually works best to set the printer to the label printer while on the sheet you want to print the label from (eg. Ex1 Label) and then in page setup set the right settings... then save the document. That way those settings will be used when printing that tab with the label printer. I will put some code together this weekend to get you started, but you will need to either do some and then ask specific questions, or provide more details about the functionality.

    Re: Label printing dashboard

Thanks a lot for your reply, Arkadi!

My apologies for confusing and lacking explanations - will try to clarify.

As for the two label templates in Ex1 - they're there because one is for outbound (1st) shipment while the second is for homebound (2nd) shipment.
I don't think it necessarry to have two templates, I just wanted to show you the differences in data displayed on the label.

Items and Subitems are just placeholder names for various products.
IE let's say Item1 is "Screws", Subitem1 is "Toycar" while Subitem2 is "Apple" and Subitem3-5 is a personalized greeting "card" which needs a name displayed (thus my request for a prompt where I can fill in X names in relation to how many labels there are of the Subitem3-5 types).
Subitem1-2 do not require names filled in.

Ex1, Ex2, Ex3 are different label/overview templates (named otherwise in my original sheet).
I didn't implement the tabs in the simplified version since they are mostly identical to Ex1 (only difference being logos and some other minutae).
