Non-Volatile Alternative: Cell or Indirect and Address for Named Range Formula

    Hi,

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on an alternative to CELL("contents",INDIRECT( ADDRESS(ROW()-1,COLUMN()))) or really just INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW()-1,COLUMN()))?

I'm need to use a header as a lookup value across several columns against several interconnected sheets and want to/need to use this mechanism in a named range, problem is of course mr. indirect's volatility, and that for named ranges I need it to be sheet agnostic.

    thanks for help

    Hi.

You've posted in the VBA subforum. Can you clarify why?

Unfortunately I cannot upload the workbook in question, but I was just wondering if there was an alternative to the Indirect formula with combo. of address essentially.

Re: Non-Volatile Alternative: Cell or Indirect and Address for Named Range Formula

There are generic alternatives to the two formulas you posted, though the accompanying sentence you gave in that first post would seem to suggest that some context needs to be taken into consideration.

It doesn't have to be the actual workbook. A small, mocked-up example will suffice.

    Regards
