Copy and paste parts of 600+ separate worksheets into one worksheet

    Hello All.

I have 602 separate csv files, that I need to copy and paste parts of into one excel worksheet. The data set from the csv files have different numbers of rows, which adds to the difficulty.

File 834.csv, shows what the files look like in general.

The first thing that I need from the file in on line A5, where it talked about the Zip Codes (in this case 834-01 to 834-99 removal of the "-" in this case is optimal

Then want to take the 83401-83499 and fill column A with this, starting at row A11

    Then copy A11:G111

Not every file will go to 141, some will go more, some less. Which becomes part of the problem.

The data set that is in brackets [1], [2], [3] is a whole different issue that I have not yet figured out how to best solve. Kinda going one step at a time here.

I am attaching a file called SampleData to show what ideally the end results should look like.

    Try the attached workbook.
Place it in the folder where you keep your CSV files and click on the button.

YAY it worked. YOU ARE AWESOME!!! THANK YOU!!!!

the next challenge is to deal with the data at the bottom of the page

So, on the previously attached file (834)

Would need to format the data that starts on row 148, and put it is column B

The same information from above in column A would need to go in column A for this data as well, and then the appropriate zone numbers (listed in the sentence above the data - Rows 147, 157, 167, 175 of the attached file) would need to go in columns C, E, H. The other columns (D, F, and G) would need to have a "-" in it.

Re: Copy and paste parts of 600+ separate worksheets into one worksheet

I have posted a sample of what I described above.... take a look at file 834s, starting around N147 to see what I described. I did the first two sections (hawaii), would also need to do this for the alaska portion as well.

looking forward to your thoughts thoughts / questions.

    Thanks again!!834s.csv

Re: Copy and paste parts of 600+ separate worksheets into one worksheet

    This one is more complex.
You may have multiple section in [2] as you have for Hawaii but the [2] is only mentioned once. But a good point is that there is always an empty row between section.

Also, you have to read the row's text with the [2] and decode the zones. Are those zones ALWAYS mentioned for Ground, Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air in that order? Can one or more be missing? Can it be other options like 3 Day Select or Next Day Air Saver?

Re: Copy and paste parts of 600+ separate worksheets into one worksheet

i discovered that all 600 files had the same zone numbers for HI and AK so i just manually built it from that..... but you are correct those 3 options are the only options available for hawaii and alaska... probably PR also... but i am not including that in the listing.

i have come across another problem in the creation of this monster.... when i figure out exactly what it is ill post it here.

    thank you for your help!!
