If active cell in range changes

Hello, I am trying to do something simple, but i cant seem to achieve it, neither can i seem to find a resolution for it in a google search.

I want to disable the application event in a worksheet change event if an active cell in range is changed. In other words i have a number of worksheet events that should be triggered when the worksheet changes; however i don't want the events to fire when the active cell in column "A" is changed.
