Do not automatically update results for certain functions using a macro?

    Hello everyone,

In my spreadsheet there are certain Bloomberg functions such as BDH(), BDP(). They are not Excel functions. Unless computers have Bloomberg system installed, the formulas using BDH() or BDP() will be evaluated to error if 'Automatic' calculation is turned on. So every time we have to turn the calculation to 'Manual' as long as the computer has no Bloomberg facilities.

Is there a way to use macro to stop calculation for BDH() and BDP() formulas? Just keep them as the original value with evaluation.

It is cool to make this happen using a macro. But may be it is a challenge.

How about put calculation manual in your workbook open code?

Hi, JasperD. The macro did the same thing as directly changing the calculation to manual in Excel. What I hope to achieve is to update results from all Excel functions, but just do not evaluate the BDH() and BDP() functions (keep them like static). The BDH() and BDP() functions are not Excel functions in nature. They will not provide results unless the computer has Bloomberg application installed. So I just want to keep them untouched when the calculation is still set to 'Aumatic'.

So the question is simply: the calculation is set to 'Automatic', but DO NOT evaluate the two functions of BDH() and BDP()?

    Yes exactly

You should get that function code and add it in your workbook VBA module so that it can be available within the file without depending on the existence of that addin
