Lock In A Date In Excel

    Hi there,

I have a dropdown list in Column C with 3 options: "First", "Second", and "Third". I have three columns in BW, BX, and BY. When I select "First" from the dropdown list in Column C, I would like the date to appear (and stay locked in) in Column BW in the same row. Same thing for when I select "Second" from the dropdown list, etc. etc.

    So...
When "First" is first selected from the dropdown in column C, the current date should appear in column BW.

When "Second" is first selected from the dropdown in column C, the current date should appear in column BX (without changing the value in BW).

When "Third" is first selected from the dropdown in column C, the current date should appear in column BY (without changing the value in BW or BX).

    Hello b624333,

Reading between the lines, I tend to believe that there may be a bit more involved than what you are stating.

If your issue is a "Once Off" case, then yes, it is possible, but I would imagine that you would want everything restored at some point to start from scratch.

If the latter is the case it could become quite complicated, especially if we do not have a sample Workbook to work with.

    Attach a sample workbook.

Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

Sorry for the delay; I was traveling. Thank you for your response.

Not that complicated. To "start over" I was just going to Clear the Contents (the dates) of BW, BX, and BY.

    Hi b624333,

    Not that complicated...
Since the contents of (the dates) of BW, BX, and BY would depend on what is selected in Column C, it would not be so easy to just clear Columns BW, BX, and BY.

I have compiled a sample Workbook from how I understand what your exact requirements are, with a simple VBA Code compilation for you to change to suit.

Please have a look at it, and advise if it suits your needs.

    Regards.
