Excel Add-in updated, but when new workbook open, changes to not available

    Hello folks,

I've always been interested in an Excel Add-In, but haven't ever run across the need until today.

I created a .xla and placed it in my xlstart folder.

Opened an Excel file >> went to Excel Options >> Add-Ins >> and check marked the new Add-In.

    All works fine.

I then went to my xlstart folder, opened the .xla and made/saved a few required updates to the macros, but when I went back into an Excel file to try the new changes through the menu bar, the Add-In did not work with the new changes.

I then went back to Excel Options >> Add-Ins >> unchecked the Add-In in question, closed Excel then reopened and then checked the Add-In all over again. It worked.

Have I missed a step somewhere? Again it works, just not taking kindly to the updataed .xla.
    HTH
    Regards, Jeff

    Hi Jeff

In my Addins I have this Code in the ThisWorkbook Module so the Addin gets saved every time I open it an then Close it. Saves the hassle of "Unsaved" changes.

Re: Excel Add-in updated, but when new workbook open, changes to not available

    Hi John,

Thank you for your time. I'll give this a try, but will have to wait to next week as this is at work.

It doesn't make any sense to me, but after making changes to the Add-in, the menu on the Ribbon under the Add-ins tab hasn't updated. It seems the functioning of the Add-in itself works fine, just not through the menu.

The only way I've seen to resolve it, right click on the menu under the Add-in tab >> delete custom command

I then do the unchecking, removing of the Add-in, and then recheck and all works fine.

Maybe what is wrong is the code? The Add-in menu is not being removed upon close so when Excel restarts again somehow the updated menu does not load? Again, if I new what was wrong it might be fixed...

The code I used is [URL=http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/excel-add-in-create.htm]here[URL/].

It the one towards the bottom, Sub AddMenus, with the AddinInstall and AddinUninstall,
