Macro button works on my pc, no-one else's

    Hi all,

I have several spreadsheets with macros, which are launched using buttons. These have worked well for a long time. Now however, on one of the spreadsheets the button only works for me. For anyone else, the button doesn't even depress. Their macro security is the same as mine, and if you run the macro manually it still works - but the button doesn't.

On the other spreadsheet, the same type of button works well for everyone.

For both spreadsheets the code behind the button is essentially the same:

The only difference being the name of the macro called. The macro called works manually without the button.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks!

Lots and lots of threads on this ...

Perceived wisdom says find and delete all the .exd files in the %Temp% folder and its sub-folders. When I asked Windows to search for them, it didn't find any.

So, that didn't work for me. I deleted everything (that I could) in the %Temp% folder. I let it all go to the Recycle bin, just in case but, so far, I have had no need to recover anything.

I later discovered that the .exd files have file attributes A and I for Archive and Not Indexed. The latter is the important one and is why I couldn't find the files when I searched for them.

You'll find them in the Excel and VBA folders in the %Temp% directory.

    Hi,

I tried this on the pc of a colleague with the problem. We looked in the windows temp directory (the only temp dir we could find). There was no Excel or VBA sub folders, and no .exd files. For good measure we emptied the temp folder to the recycle bin, but still couldn't press the button. I couldn't even edit the button in design mode on his pc! The button just sat there and did nothing.

    Any ideas please ?

    Thanks,

    ssu,

The path is C:\users\USERNAME\appdata\local\temp then in that folder look for a folder named Excel8.0 and another named VBE. I only had to delete the files in Excel8.0
The first part of the path is best to type, as appdata is a hidden folder so it won't show depending on your settings. USERNAME is the username of the user that is logged in.

If you type %TEMP% in the search box, it will open the user's temp directory.
