    Why did my ActiveX controls stop working?

    I have a workbook that I have been using for over 10 years. The workbook contains a few controls (CheckBoxes). All of a sudden they quit working. I couldn't even click on them, so obviously they wouldn't execute the code relating to them. I thought it might be some setting in Options, but I couldn't find anything that would prohibit them from working. Does anyone know what has gone wrong with my workbook. Thanks for your help.

    Perceived wisdom says search for *.exd files in the Temp folder and delete them. For whatever reason, that did not work for me.

    I resorted to taking the proverbial sledgehammer to crack this nut and simply deleted the contents of the Temp folder ... which worked on a 2007 machine and a 2010 machine. I did take the precaution of NOT permanently deleting the files and sub-folders and allowed them to go in the recycle bin, just in case.

    Touch wood, no issues so far and the ActiveX controls are, well, active again.

    I did all steps to delete the .exd file from %temp% folder (i.e. excel8/VBE)

    I used 'Microsoft office Fixit tool too...still problem persists.

    Actually, I said it didn't work for me either. Read my post again.

    Make sure Excel is closed and then delete the contents of the Temp directory ... everything. Let it go to the Recycle bin just in case there is a problem and you need to restore anything.
