I have a list in column A.
Can I have column B populate the URL of the first page of the search results?
Thanks in advanced!

Hello,
your question is not clear. What do you want to do?
Hi Teylyn
I would like the keyword phrase in A1 to be googled searched then the url entered into B1. Rinse and repeat all the way down. Then I would use a URL opener to open all the pages so I can view them.
Hope this makes better sense. Not sure if this even the best way to do this.
What URL entered in B1. The Google search URL? Or the result of the google search? Which one of the results that Google finds?
Please mock up an example in your Excel file and post that, so we know what you expect to see.
A1 is: KA5264 wallpaper
B1 would show the googled URL results: https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=KA5264+wallpaper
OK.
To reduce typing, create a named formula with your preferred Google page. For example, click Formulas > Name Manager > New
Enter "Google" as the name and in the Refers To box put the formula "https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=" (in both cases don't enter the double quotes).
Now, back in your sheet, enter this formula into cell B1 and copy down.
The formula will create the URL for the Google search and will at the same time put that into a hyperlink, so you can click the cell to open that URL in your default browser.![]()

Thanks Teylyn!
I ran into a problem though.
Check out the sheet I attached. Everything seems to be in order but when I click on the hyper link it defaults me to google home page and changes the URL.
Thanks again!!

I added the word 'wallpaper' thinking that was it but the url still gets all funky on me and defaults back to the google home page

It works fine for me. Google uses different pages in different regions. I suggest you open your preferred Google page and do a search with a phrase of two or three words, like
one two three
Hit enter and inspect the URL. You'll find the search words at the end of the URL after the q=
Put the beginning of the URL including the q= into the range name as described above. That should give you the desired result.
Hi Teylyn,
Thanks for the help. I changed my default browser to explorer from chrome and it works fine.
Happy New Year!
