Combine multiple columns to rows

Hello everyone,

I've got a large dataset that I'm looking to analyze for practice until I take my own data. Currently the count data looks like this (example):

Plot number/ Species 1/ Species 2/ Species 3/species 4…
1/0/1/0/4
2/1/3/5/0
3/4/7/0/0
4…

And I would like it to look something like this so that I can preform sums and compare the proportion of certain species counts in one plot.

Plot
1/species1
1/species1
1/species4
2/species1
2/species2
2/species2...

I have never used macros or VBA but I'm dedicating the next two weeks of my MSc to learning about them. Can anyone suggest a book that would help me on my way (I wouldn't even know what to do with a code if someone gave it to me).

I personally learned a good portion of what I know from "Wise Owl tutorials" on Youtube. Go to the VBA tutorial on their page. It starts with the very basics of finding where the VBA editor is and goes to relatively advanced projects as the videos progress. Very easy to follow and good to watch. I started with a similar knowledgebase and I have now completely automated several reports at work in about 2-3 weeks times.
