if then macro to find word and update another cell in row with an assigned number

Hi
I have searched all over for a macro to find a word in one cell and update a cell in another column and can't seem to find exactly what I am looking for to modify...
I have a spreadsheet and need to look for liquor types in column A and then update column K with a corresponding code number for that liquor type.
Ex-
Find word in column A and put number in column K.
Liquor, 1
Rum,2
Vodka, 3
Brandy, 4
Whiskey,5
Tequila, 6
Cognac, 7
Amaretto, 8
Scotch, 9
Wine, 10
Can someone help me with a macro?

I think this can be achieved with a VLOOKUP formula. Unless I am missing something.
