Is it mandatory to keep the excel file as macro enable (if inside having macro) ?

Dear all, I am having an “Excel Macro Enable Workbook” & it works very well. Now if I save as it to “Excel Binary workbook “ . or save as it as normal “Excel workbook” only . in both case it works as well . but my question , is it mandatory to keep the excel workbook as macro enable where its having macro module inside the file ? . please consider its speed or other thing . need explanation for my case..

    No.

The following are some of the scenarios that are possible:

    1. The file doesn't need the macro any more. When you save the file as .xlsx, then the file will be saved without the macro and the macro will be lost, unless you previously saved it somewhere else.

    2. You move the Macro to your PERSONAL.XLSB file (Personal.xls in Excel 2003). When you save the file as .xlsx then you can use the macro on the file you just saved as .xlsx and on other files too. See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...#_Toc275246697

You can also create add-ins (advanced topic) which is similar to personal.xlsb See http://www.cpearson.com/excel/createaddin.aspx

    3. You move the macro to another file, which becomes the Master file (macro enabled). You open the Master file, and then run the Macro on data files (such as the original file you just saved as .xlsx).

I hope I've helped you and not confused you.
