Excel macro to open a specific slide in a powerpoint slideshow

Hi, this is my very first post, so please be gentle....

I have an Excel macro which opens a Powerpoint Slideshow (ppsx) with the filename VideoName, and closes and return to Excel after a given time (called Delay). This works well, but I need to open a specific, but varying from instance to instance, slide number. Can anyone help me with some code for that?

Thanks Andy. I am using the 2007 versions of Excel and Powerpoint. I am not certain if there was any code text on that webpage which could be inserted into my code? I am unfamiliar with the concept of Command line Switches.

When I run the macro I get the following eror message:

Run-time error '-2147188160 (80048240)':
Slide.Select: Invalid request. This view does not support selection.

Am I doing some thing wrong?

Hi Andy,

using a pptx file instead of a ppsx file worked However, now I first see the powerpoint application opening, then half a second later the presentation starts. Not a huge deal, bit a little less elegant than I had hoped for. Anyway around that?
