Adding new sheets and renaming them according to cell value

As the title says I need some directional help. I have created a spreadsheet that takes data and breaks it onto separate sheets depending on the category Assembly No. I can do this manually by adding new sheets and changing the name to the assembly number and changing a cell on the new page to reflect the assembly number so it pulls in the correct data on that sheet. My Question is can this process be automated? I would like to write a code that will add as many new sheets as necessary based on the assembly numbers, and then rename those sheets to the correct assembly number and change the value is the key cell to the new assembly number. I realize that I could do a count to get the number of unique assembly numbers and then add that many sheets but what I don't know is if they can be renamed to what I need them to be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Bill

Hi, Unfortunately your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title. With 35 posts under your belt I'm just surprised that you don't know this. On this occasion I'll let this stand here if you correct the title and acknowledge that you understand the rules.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

(This thread should receive no further responses until this moderation request is fulfilled, as per Forum Rule 7)

    I should think so.

I don't know is if they can be renamed to what I need them to be.
That would pretty much depend on what characters are used in the Assembly Categories. If it's all alpha-numeric, numbers and hyphens, shouldn't be a problem.

They are numeric such as 001 or 071.

Then, provided they are unique and relatively short, shouldn't be a problem.
