Open and close files using excel macro

Hi,

I have a folder which has a set of files (Files may be anything like excel,pdf,word..etc).My rrequirement is:
When i run the macro the first file to last file should open and wait for 5 sec and then close..I mean first time the first file should open and wait for 5 sec and close..Next 2 nd files shoul open and close after 5 sec..next third files should open and close after 5 sec...Like wise till last file..Is this possible to achive through macro code..

We have 1000 of files in a folder.Every time we need to open the file and check wether it has a data or not.daily manually we are opening files and checking ..so only i came to this idea..is this possible?

Im ok if we have any code for Excel..i have excel files only most of the times...

why don't u use modified date? I can't imagine you would have someone stare at a screen with 100s of documents that open and close ever 5 seconds.

We are checking full content of the documents.But for a quick check we are doing this type of review..Just open eacha nd every file and close the files after checking(Manually)So that am asking whethr we can able to do this through macro vba code..
