    Automation error Object invoked has disconnected from its clients

    Hi All,

    I am no VBA expert here so go easy on me :-)

    I have a series of spreadsheets that I add a line of data to every day. I recorded the simplest of VBA macros in my personal file which copies the selected line and inserts a copy into the line above on several sheets.

    This is working fine on most of the spreadsheets but on one of them it works on the first tab not not on two others.

    The error happens every time in the same place. Must be something specific about the file It fails in but i can't see it. The debug option tells me nothing. Any thoughts?

    So what's different about the two sheets where it fails? Any controls on them? Tables? Filters?

    Also, please change your post to use code tags before a moderator sees it...

    No difference that I can think would cause an error.

    Tab 1 - which works has a series of vlookups to another spreadsheet on the network - no problems with these.

    Tabs 2 & 3 which fail, link to data on the first tab and other tabs in the spreadsheet - mostly vlookups and direct sum / sumproduct arithmetic operations referencing the other sheets.

    There are no other links to external data sources or files other than the one I mention on tab 1. I don't generally use excel Tables. I do filter but not on these tabs.

    The file is stored on a dropbox, but so are the others that work so that's not a difference - it's just a mystery why this one is different. The error happens on two but I created the second from the first so they must be linked.

    Sorry - I don't know what you mean by code tags.... I'll google that :-)

    SOLVED IT!

    I had a tab in the file which had errors on it. It was redundant but I had hidden it rather than deleted it. now deleted it and problem solved... Thanks Anyway rory!
