Shading and locking multiple cells from input based on a value in seperate a single cell

Hi there, I'm new to the forum but very glad to have found it. I have what I believe to be newbie kind of problem. I've used excel for years but on a limited basis. I don't even know enough to be dangerous.

Now the problem, Each client has a sheet in a workbook. In each sheet, I input the number of days of service available to that particular client in a single cell. We'll say cell [G8] is the cell used for this input in all sheets. If the client has 30 days of service available then we type [30] in cell [G8]. Each sheet is a 100 day template. I want to shade in dark grey and lock from input the days NOT available to the client based on the days of service input in cell [G8]. If 30 days of service are available in cell [G8] then the remaining 70 days on the 100 day template would be shaded dark grey and locked from input. That is, day 31 through day 100 of the template would be locked and shaded. Each individual day has multiple cells in a column. I want to lock and shade each column of cells in each day not available.

Sorry for the 3rd grade explanation. Clarity defeats confusion. Please advise on how I should proceed. Thanks for the help.

Hi Most, Welcome to the forum
Could you please upload a dummy sheet or your sheet for more clarification.

    Hi Most,

As of now what I have done is put the 100 days in one horizontal rather than making different sets of months.

Tell me if you can maintain data in this format ?

Check the tab "Client" in which a macro is inserted. Put the starting date in cell A14,
, when you change the value in cell G8 the remaining days gets locked and turned grey. Remember to always enable macros.

    Cheers,
    Bhuvi

    Bhuvi,

I appreciate your willingness to help with this solution. In consideration of simplicity and time, there are of course some considerations not mentioned in the original post. The sheet is set as required regarding layout. I really can't change the layout. I have to maintain the integrity of the worksheet layout as in the original. The color bands in the original sheet represent different stages that must be recognized. The number of days appearing in sequence represent other considerations. I can't run the entire table in a linear horizontal fashion. Also, each of the cells inside the table has designated data so I will need to move the start date to cell [Q8]. I'm really interested in how to solve this issue. Do you mind sharing the solution you have implemented so I could try to adapt it to my sheet?

    Thanks again,
    Most

    Hi Most,

The solution has now adapted itself as per your needs

I hope the structure of the sheet remains unchanged, i.e. if you change the alignment of cells and columns then the macro has to be changed accordingly.

In the attached sheet, the macro in sheet1 is executed whenever you change the value in cell G8.

    Hope this helps you.

    Cheers!
    Bhuvi
