amending someone else's spreadsheet

If the workbook is protected, then he may be unable to make changes. His computer may also have some security which locks files from outside. Usually there's a message about that. He should check his security settings you should ensure that protection is off.

Protection is definitely off and workbook not shared - have just double checked. Not sure about the other person's security etc., - will check with them.

The contents are unusual, in that I have used Excel in preference to Access; which I do not like. It is a comprehensive list of names/addresses/phone numbers/e-mail addresses and dates/costs etc., for an annual event.

Sometimes people die, move away etc., and I am not always aware of this. I therefore try to keep up-dated and get people to advise me when they learn of any such happenings. I thought it would be good if others could alter my spreadsheet and e-mail it back to me, instead of my having to do it all.
