reading cell in sheet1 and matching it to the corresponding value in sheet2

Hi,

I have query in excel, where in, if I enter a value in sheet1 in any cell, it should automatically open sheet2 and point to the corresponding cell in sheet2.
How do i get excel to make a loop through the entire cell value in sheet2 and then match the value in sheet1 and correspond it to the value in sheet2?

Can anyone help on this?

Place the following event macro in the worksheet code area of Sheet1:

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim v As Variant, r As Range
v = Target.Value
For Each r In Sheets("Sheet2").UsedRange
If InStr(r.Value, v) > 0 Then
    Sheets("Sheet2").Activate
    r.Select
End If
Next
End Sub

Because it is worksheet code, it is very easy to install and automatic to use:

1. right-click the tab name near the bottom of the Excel window
2. select View Code - this brings up a VBE window
3. paste the stuff in and close the VBE window

If you have any concerns, first try it on a trial worksheet.

If you save the workbook, the macro will be saved with it.


To remove the macro:

1. bring up the VBE windows as above
2. clear the code out
3. close the VBE window
