    Question Searching in dropdown boxes

    Hi excelforum,

I've just started a new job and in this I am required to input statistics for the days work by employees in the office,

The spreasheet works by inputting an employees name, their task and the time taken to do the task.

The problem is that the dropdown boxes that are for employees names include over 100 people, and its very tiresome to go through workload scrolling through the lists for every person.

I was wondering whether there was a way to input the first letter of the name so it would automatically go to a certain name.

For example, if i wanted to enter the name 'Edward Jenkins'; if I pressed E, this would jump to the 'E' section of the list, or enter the value E into the box and auto-complete with a name.

I'm not overly experienced with excel but it'd be nice to be able to make this more efficient to show my boss that I have some computer skills.

    Thanks for your help

    Andy

On the 'Home and Away' tab double click in either the E, F or G column and start typing a name that's found in list on the 'Player's List' tab.

Hi ratcat, thanks for the reply.

That's exactly what I want my spreasheet to do!

How is it coded in this way?

    Re: Searching in dropdown boxes

    I realise I didn't give much information,

In my spreasheet if you double click on the dropdown menu it doesn't give the option to type in, it only opens and closes the dropdown menu

    Cheers
