    Target Percentage problem

    Hi All,
I have a percentage problem that I do not know how to solve, to achieve the total cost, I would perform the calculations as follows:
    [CODE]amount rate * percentage = amt 1
    fee1 : amt 1 * (prior fee1/prior amt 1) = fee1
    fee2 : amt 1 * .0058 = fee 2
    fee3 : percentage * 36 = fee 3
    total amount = amt 1 + fee1+fee2+fee3
    [code]
With being explain, my goal is to input the total amount and have it calculate what the percent should be to achieve the target amount,
I have included a spread sheet.

Any assistance would be appreciated, I have thought of using the analyst tool pack:"what if" of Solver but am unfamiliar with this.
    Thanks James

    Re: Target Percentage problem

    I have two Questions:

    1. In your file, where do you have the "Target Amount"
    2. Is percentage in B2?
    Regards,
    Vandan

    Re: Target Percentage problem

    HI Vandan,
This is the normal procedure to finding the amount, if I were to some how wanted the percent and i have an amount that I want to achieve I could do a hit and miss by trial and error, I am wondering if there is another what of achieving the perent without having to do a hit and miss. b2 is the percentage and based on that I would get and amount.

    Re: Target Percentage problem

In the what-if analysis ..use 'Goal seek'

    Set Cell: B9
    To value: 20000 (say)
    By changing cell: B2

Does this help? What version of Excel are you using? Your user profile does not indicate anything.
