    If formula

I'm pretty new to this... I need a formula that will take K12-40, only if K12 is greater than 40. Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: Need help with formula (IF?)

    Basic math

    =K12-IF(K12>40,40,0)

Re: Need help with formula (IF?)

Thanks, I couldn't figure out how to word the formula (I'm self teaching Excel). So now, with this formula, how do I get the cell to read 0 if K12 is less than 40, in addition to the formula stated above?

Thanks for helping me with my silly questions

    That would be

    =MAX(0,K12-40)
