Find and Replace values within a formula?

Hi everyone! I apologize if this is a repeat question, but this is my first time posting on here! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Q: Is it possible to "Find and Replace" specific characters of values spit out by formulae?

Basically, what I need to do is put the file name "Dataset3_20100706134923984_img16_date2010_06_07_13_49_24_869" in A1 and copy the time stamp portion of the file name to B1 without the underscores so it reads "0607134924869". I already found instructions on how to use the Command prompt to make a list of all my file names and copy/paste those into the worksheet. Now it's just the time stamp portion that's puzzling me.

Currently I'm using the formula =RIGHT(A1, 18) in B1 to copy over "06_07_13_49_24_869" but is there a way to remove the underscores after this step? Even better, is there an easier way than what I'm trying to do in the first place? I have thousands of these to add to my worksheet, so it's not just a matter of manually transcribing them because that would take forever. I'm just not familiar with all of the things Excel is capable of, so please help!

    Thanks again,

    Amy

In addition to your RIGHT function, try:

    =SUBSTITUTE(=RIGHT(A1, 18),"_","")
    Cheers,

Thanks so much! When I first entered it, Excel gave me an error message, but I took out the second = and now it works like a charm.

Oops, yes, that second = should never have been there. I must have pasted in haste, sorry.
