    Count values in a column

    He Dear,

I am fresh on this forum. This afternoon I had make some table for plan vs actual. Relatively I wanted to count the values input in a column, i.e.

In column C I had and In Column D I had
    PP P

So I wanted to count those values, So in manual calculation the total is 3. Why

Because PP represent that employee A has a target to comply 2 plans in one day. And employee B had a target 1 only.

Can anybody help me on this on how to figured out.

    Regards,

Re: Count values in a column

    Try something like:

    =SUMPRODUCT(--(LEN(C1:D4)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(C1:D4,"P",""))))

    adjust the ranges to suit.

This counts the number of "P's" in the range.
Where there is a will there are many ways.

Re: Count values in a column

    Hi,

It's not clear exactly how this data is laid out and whether you're wanting to count all values in the whole columns or just the values on a particular row. And then what do you mean by value? is 'PP' a count of 2 because there are two characters? If all 'values' are made up of single characters and you want to count on each row then

    =LEN(A1)+Len(B1)

How to find the minimum value from a series of data

I have a column of discriptions (one in each row) and next to it another column with values through formulas.
I can use the "MINA" function to find and present the minimum value, but:

What if there are two or more equal ones?
How can I present the discription corresponding to the min value, before or next to it (the min value) ?

    Thank you in advance.
