I am very new to excel formulas and the only one I have used so far is Sum for addition.
I have a number in B1 and I want to subtract the numbers in B2 through B26 from that first number without subtotal rows to give me a total in B27. Is that possible and what would that formula look like?

Perhaps try
=B1-SUM(B2:B26)

That worked great! thanks so much. It never occurred to me to get the total sum of what I wanted to subtract. Not the math wiz here
