IF Function when adding values

Hi,

When i try to include a sum as part of a logical test I get a VALUE! error. Please can you help?

The code I have been using is:

=IF(B2:B4=3,"yes","no")

If i add a "+" sign between every value in column "B" it works fine, but when I use ":" to add the range it returns the error.

You must encase the range within the SUM function

=IF(SUM(B2:B4)=3,"yes","no")
