Question [SOLVED] Graphing and plotting multiple data series

Very basic question I'm sure, but i cannot for the life of me work this one out:

I have two series (soon to be three) of data that i am trying to plot on the same graph.

The data is of the same nature for each series and is being plotted for annual comparisons (I.E -- A = $ Weekly cash takings per annum comparison B= # of Customers in same period)

The A values plot perfectly against one another, using the same scale.

The B value data (customer numbers) plot perfectly with the first series, but for the second series, seem to be using a completely different scale.

I have checked over all of the series data properties for the first one, and ensured the second match these settings, but still cannot make this work for the second series.

Attached is a gif image file showing the issue first hand.

Next question is: will i be able to continue this graph with 3-5 series of data interlacing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    R.

It would make much easier for those trying to help you if you posted a workbook rather than an image.

Re: Graphing and plotting multiple data series

hi andy, new to this -- thanks for the advice:

there are other sheets that the workbook is drawing information from that i cant share (as it's not my information) and some of it is pretty confidential (sales data etc)

any other way to help get to the bottom of this?

    r.

Re: Graphing and plotting multiple data series

Make sure all date values are true dates.
Enable the secondary horizontal axis and check the scale is the same.

You could try de-sensitising your data and only posting a workbook with relevent data and chart.

Re: Graphing and plotting multiple data series

so, the axis are fine for the first set of data the data source says 1 - 50, ...
but for the second set of data is trying to use dates as it's data source, it's using the weekly intervals instead of 0-2500 like the first one.

how do i change this over? do i allocate cells as the data set? or is there an equation for it to assume numbers from 1 -50 ... etc?

    thanks andy!

Re: Graphing and plotting multiple data series

a scale of 1-50 would suggest non use of dates.
Try setting the date axis to Text. Format Axis > Axis Options.

Re: Graphing and plotting multiple data series

    hi andy,
    resolved the issue:

i had set the data series to plot on the primary axis ($ value)
once changed to the secondary axis (pax count) it fell to where it should be!

    so simple!

many thanks for your help though!

    r.
