Rota Calculation

Hi Everyone... I'm a newbie!

Here's my problem: I am writing a rota! In the first column I have a list of dates, the next is a list of either text which is either "Day" or "Night" under each person's name.

i.e.
A B C
Jim Jake
1 1/1/10 Day Night
2 2/1/10 Night Day
and so on...


Question: How do I make a count of the number of nights each person is doing that are weekday nights, and another count of the number of nights each person does that are weekend nights?
