use macros without original document opening up

Hello,
I have created macros and assigned them within excel in general. But now everytime I use the macros the excel document opens up in which I originally created the macros. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Would be great as it is quite annoying - thanks!

No the book the macros are in must be open

One option is to store them in the Personal workbook, It opens but you do not see it

Or copy the macros to the workbook which needs to use them. That way the workbook always have the macro available.

I also use macros within powerpoint and here the document were you create the macros in does not open up when you use the macros in other powerpoint files. So it opening up is standard for excel? Although it sounds like a solution, I'm not entirely sure what you mean with personal workbook?
