Conditional Formatting Dates in Excel

I have an excel spreadsheet with critical path dates (scheduled dates for different tasks).
I want to see which dates are due highlighted in red font, but once they are entered I want the formatting to disappear ie go back to black. So if something was due on 13th March and that was today it would be in red font, but then when it was entered as 13th or 14th of March I want the formatting to disappear.. Hope that make sense, I 've been wrestlign with this for days...

There must be a status column as well which will show done/pending. you can put conditional formatting by comparing two columns. It it not make sense then attach a sample file so i can check it out.

Oops, read "back to black" as "black on black". Fixed. Is *This* what you mean?

yes that is the first part of the formatting, but i need the second bit please, i'll attach the workbook which contains two sheets so you can see how far I've got.. thank you

Hi I've attached the workbook so far,
sheet 1 is with column and sheet 2 without, as I suspected I might have to have a due column and an actual colomn, however would prefer not to. So I've got the first part of the condition to go red ie less than or equal to today, however once the date is entered I need it to go black, so if manually entered it's still not red.... hope that makes sense,
Also as you can see I would like the formatting of the rows not to show anything until the claim date is entered....
