    Summing total & running total?

Hope I can make sense here:
I am summing up cells from different sheets. They are linked to a summary page. On that summary page the totals are multiplied by a cost amount (in a cell). I would like that cost amount (cell) to keep adding even though the other linked figures change. So, if the item is replaced and the cost amount changes (lowers), I will always have that "to date" total (in a sepreate cell) that continues. Does this question make sense. I'm not good enough with excel to converse in "excel speak" yet...but I'm trying. Thank you!

If you have linked the worksheets, should the changes show automatically?

    Thank you for the reply!

Yes but the problem is that they are inventory items and when they are replenished, and the items are changed on the original sheet (hotel of 150 rooms/sheets) which of course lowers all linked references--say if I had 2 items linked to a specific hotel unit (say ashtrays). When I replenish the ashtrays, all the linked columns will return to zero---I wanted to run a sort of accumulating sum that shows the costs that I had even though the other columns show zeroes (reflecting the replenishments). I fear that I am making no sense to you... I apologize

Okay, it might be best to supply a sample workbook.

    losing faith

Yes it is well explained and I attempted three times to attach a small sample. I received a "data base error" and am unable to attach. Thank you very much for your time. I greatly appreciate it. I am presently overwhelmed with suffocating frustration. I have spent far too much time on this...

Just click the paper clip, click choose a folder, find the file and upload it, if the file is to big you may have to zip it.
