Online CSV file editing and saving

Thanks in advance for your respect of the noob.

I have a simple html form that updates/saves contact info to a CSV file on a server. I can open and view this file online, but want to edit and save changes. Can this file be edited without corrupting it and future entries? I'm aware that I need to retain the individual fields.
