countif question

Hi

There are 3000 rows in excel sheet. There is a words like FI - Finance ,SD,MM,PP in a column.

I want to count FI - Finance

Please help me out from this issue.

=COUNTIF(A:A,"FI - Finance")

All columns are in J column. It is not working out. I want remove others keeping FI-Finance.

I am new to the excel. could anybody cleary explain about the ciruclar reference.

I am going through the Trainning CD's but I don't know how long it take me a skilled excel expert.
