Any clues for fixing my problem will be appreciated. My sheet of 1200 rows, when I try to sort them into alpha order, sorts into the first list of 66 rows and then row 67 begins a new alpha list for the rest.

Try selecting the entire worksheet by clicking on the grey button at top left corner of the worksheet - above row 1 and to the left of column A - then sort.

I was sure to select the whole sheet before sorting the first time and have tried again several times since. There must be something in the entries that I cannot see that causes it to make the first sort-in perfect alpha order and to then make another sort, also in perfect alpha order. I even tried copying a row from the first sort and then inserting it in the proper alpha row place in the second sort, selecting the whole sheet and trying another sort to see what happens. It puts the copied row back in the first sort when I sort again.
Appreciate your try.
Posting a sample of data may help you find your answer

While I'm no expert, it sounds like a similiar problem I had. Mine was related to the formatting in your sort column. I had entered information as "general", then later added information as "number". It might not help but make sure that everything in your sort column is formatted as the same type.
Thanks! Your answer caused me to delve deeper into formating. I kept formating the whole zip column to "number" previously but discovered upon checking again that the problem was that I had entered the zips for one group, while it was formated number and the other group had been entered while formated text. You can't then change the entire column simultaneously to make them common. Each group changes each time you change the format. Duh! So I selected the entire column and selected Number, then had to select each cell of the other group ( of course, I used the smaller of the two groups) and re-entered it. Now the whole zip column was formated Number and then when I sorted, the two groups became one and sorted properly.
You caused the solution to become apparent. Thanks, again.
