How do you turn off the center function?

For some reason or other,in a few certain cells,mainly the ones I was trying
to use,the numbers kept centering.I clicked the center icon and it would go
off untill I got back to those certain cells.Then back on again.After 4 tries
I Quit.

Highlight the offending cells and try this........
Format > Cells > alignmentTab > Set the Horizontal Window for "General"
