    Now, this is odd.

    I go from this:
    15ogx3r.jpg

    to this:
    jgkqqt.jpg

    when I press the "/" key.

    Why?

    And, I don't get the "/".

    Just a feature of the later versions of Excel. Hitting '/' is similar to hitting 'Alt'

    Activates the menu system for keyboard shortcuts.

    Thanks, BSB;

    Really?
    Only reason I ask is, ever since moving from 2003 to 2007 (and beyond since), mine has always done that.
    I find it very useful.

    As far as I know, this has been around since 2002, if not before. I recall from some older, DOS based spreadsheet programs that / was the main menu activation key back then, and I think Excel has maintained that through the different versions.

    In 2002 and 2007, I see that this can be controlled in the Excel options, under something like "Lotus compatiblity", where you can specify what key activates the menu system.

    Fair enough. But that's not what your original question pointed us toward.

    If you NEED the "/" in a separate column then put an apostrophe before it " '/ "

    If that doesn't suit your need then explain what you're trying to do and perhaps we can help more from there.

    MrShorty;
    That was it! Removed the "/" entry in EXCEL Options > Advanced > Lotus Compatibility > Microsoft Office Excel menu key.
