Hi Everyone.

Please talk me through this like I am a 5 year old as though I have used the product for since windows 3.1.1 I have never needed Macros or functions. The version I am using is Office365.

Overview.
We have an online store. Stock Inventory is updated using a CSV file that has pre-set column names. These columns refer to things like uniqueid, part number, vendor part number, quantity, price, description and a whole host of other fields. Many of these fields are filled in by us as the distributors are only responsible for showing part numbers, qty in stock and pricing.
Around 1500 items on the store are from our own stock, the rest are from distributers who supply a daily feed in the form of a CSV with unique id, vendor part number, quantity in stock and price. These external feeds are subject to big changes and keeping our feeds up to date is a chore.

Problem.
I cant simply cut and past the distributor field into my upload CSV as they may have discontinued a product, or added more products which if just copied and pasted in could potentially mess up important fields such as description.

Example. My upload CSV :

Unique ID Part Number Vendor Part Number Prod Name Description Qty Price
1001 Me-29P2323 29P2323 IBM 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 5 19.99
1002 Me-43p4678 43p4678 IBM 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 0 19.99
1003 Dist1-0C254 C435 HP 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 2 24.99
1004 Dist1-0C456 C456 Dell 160GB Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 7 29.99
1005 Dist1-324664-001 324664-001 HP 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 3 24.99
1006 Dist1-324987-001 324987-001 Dell 160GB Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 9 29.99

---------------------------------

Dist1-CSV
C254 Dell 160GB Hard Drive 2 9.99
324987-001 HP 160Gb Hard Drive 9 14.99
324666-001 HP 500Gb Hard Drive 4 24.99
76p8989 IBM 320Gb Hard Drive 6 19.99

------------------------------------

What I cant do is list my file by Part Number and the Dist File by part number and copy and paste as if new products have been added it will show the incorrect description fieldsn (descriptions are filled by us not the distributors).

example using data above:

Unique ID Part Number Vendor Part Number Prod Name Description Qty Price
1001 Me-29P2323 29P2323 IBM 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 5 19.99
1002 Me-43p4678 43p4678 IBM 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 0 19.99
1003 Dist1-76p8989 76p8989
1004 Dist1-0C254 C435 HP 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 2 24.99
1005 Dist1-0C456 C456 Dell 160GB Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 7 29.99
1006 Dist1-324666-001 324666-001 HP 160Gb Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 4 24.99
Dist1-324987-001 324987-001 Dell 160GB Hard Drive 160gb A very long complex description 0 29.99

As you can see ID 1006 the Dist fields are right but as the new data has pushed down other data its description is incorrect.

Hope that makes sense.

So my question is.

How can I get my data feeds from distribution copied into my upload CSV just changing the values price quantity that correspond to vendor part number.

If someone wants a closer look I can send over a current upload CSV and a Disti CSV and hopefully that might aid in a solution.

Thank you all in advance

Martin
