Not able to add shifts to excel template

    Hey guys,

First off, I am new to this forum! Looking to learn some new things. Anyway, here's my problem. I am using a Excel document I downloaded online for scheduling. It came with about 10 different shifts, but I need to add more then that in order for the schedule to work for me. No matter what I do, it messes up the document and things do not add up in my labor cost, and my labor hours. Here is the document I am working with. I would need about 15 more shifts just to be on the safe side. Can anyone help!? ACEschedule22.xlsx

    Hi Wings,

I think your problem can be solved by entering the required additional shifts BEFORE OFF on row 10 on the Shifts worksheet.

This is because there is a named range from A2 to A10 called ShiftNames. The Data Validation uses the named range in the drop down. (The same applies for EmployeeNames on the Employees sheet).

    Regards

    David

So how do I go about adding to the named range and still have the formulas add up on the
side? I would like to add more options for the shifts not just edit them.

On the Shifts sheet, once you have inserted the 15 rows you wanted above the OFF cell, whatever you type in those cells will appear in the drop down on your first sheet.

The above website should get you started in understanding how Named Ranges work.
