    Number store as Text

    Dear All

    I want to store number as text like green sign display at the top left corner.

    Format a cell as TEXT.
    Type any number there.

    my requirement is that if we copy text from notepad to excel a green mark appears in the top left corner of the cell. I want that mark

    If you do the procedure that I advised you, you will get that green mark at cell.

    Is this what you want?

    You need to go to Excel Options, Formulas, Error Checking and tick Enable background error.

    In the procedure u have told me the data has to re enter but I want a command that it automatically converts data into text format. before I was first copy data into notepad then copy from note pad
    and paste into excel then it converts into text format I want some short cut in order to save my time

    Try to do this:
    A1 --> 12345
    B1 --> =TEXT(A1,"#")

    Select B1
    --> Copy
    Select B1
    --> Paste Special
    --> Value
