    auto entering date and time

    hi all

    i have 8 columns abcdefgh

    what i am trying to do is when a "Y" is entered in column b i want the date to automatcally go into column
    c and the time into column d and the same for "y" in column efg and the same for hij i have been trying
    but i am a complete novice can anyone guide me i need the dates.times to be fixed and not change when the
    workbook is opened as it will be shared a few people at tha same time ? help

    Here is a macro solution. There are some potential problems I foresee using it. Nothing will happen if they don't put a Y in those columns.
