How do you get a spreadsheet to colour a cell according to its value? I have six different values, so want six colours, and want the cell colour to change as I change the value.

Hi Sandy and welcome to the forum,
You want to learn about "Conditional Formatting". Watch

Hi Marvin and thank you for your reply. I tried conditional formatting, but it only gives you 3 shades max, and I have 6 fixed values. They represent people on a shift, and I want to show visually with each person having their own colour so it's easier to see. (I used numbers on the table instead of people's names because I only know how to total up numbers, don't know how to get it to add up text.) Is there another way, or did I miss something on the conditional formatting thing?
Cheers,
Sandy
Your profile says 2010, that can have way more than 6 rules. Are you in fact, using 2003? That is limited to 3 rules
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Looks like it works if you give it 6 separate Conditional formatting instructions. Thanks for that, problem solved![]()
