How do I set excel to email from Outlook

Hi, I run excel 2010 on a windows 8.1 machine. In excel I have email address that I need to mail from however when I click the hyperlink it automatically directs me to Hotmail. Is there a way to change that to automatically load Outlook instead?

    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I think this might be what you need, it's for Windows 7 but if you have another O/S, just google 'change the program that starts when you open a file'.

    Hi Tom,

I use Windows 7 but I assume changing default settings is similar
    1) Click on Windows Start menu then find Contol Panel
    2) Find Default Programs

    Here's the path:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs

    3) Choose "Set your default programs" then click Outlook
    4) You can then select what you want to default to Outlook

    Hope this helps!

Hmmm, I don't see a way to change anything about Excel. I am not really sure what I am looking for I guess. When I click on an email address in excel I just want it to open in outlook instead of Hotmail.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have studied defaults and options in Excel but I can't seem to find anything.

    Thanks
    Tom

Yes. Outlook claims that it IS the default mailer.

NVM...evidently I did something wrong when I tried post #3...tried it again and it works now.

Sorry for the bother and thanks for the help.

    Cheers,
    Tom
