Is there a way to construct a grid map that I can simply insert x,-x,y,-y coordinates into to plot a marker and then add a note or comment box which will tell me who or what it is when I place my pointer over it?

Isn't that exactly what a worksheet is? You reference the column as the X co-ordinate, the row as the Y co-ordinate, the cell reference at the intersection can hold a note or comment box. Insert a map image as a worksheet background, resize to suit, adjust row height / column width to suit, and switch off view gridlines. Sorted.![]()
