    conditional formatting to highlight when expired

    hi there,
    im trying to make up a spread sheet and i need the dates to become highlighted when they are expired I've tried multiple formulas but all it does is highlight empty cells and not the dates. Does anybody know how can i get that done?really need help
    Excel2003 by the way.

    Hi and welcome to the forum

    Hard to be specific without seeing a sample But lets say your date is in B2, and the expirey date is today. You would need to create a rule, using formula, =B2<today()

    For anything more detailed, atach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

    Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

    so this is basicly what i need, i need these dates to come up highlighted in colour when they are expired.
    As i said for some reason it only hoghlights empty cells and not the dates that are in 2013..
    Hope that makes sence..
