Question Filtering leaves row numbers in order instead of skipping them

Hi, one of our users on Excel 2010 is having a problem when they filter a spreadsheet, instead of the normal behaviour of hiding the rows that were filtered out and leaving the row numbers in tact as say 1,3,4,6. It is renumbering the rows so they are always 1,2,3,4 etc. Is this a setting somewhere that needs to be changed? All our other machines are doing it the normal way and skipping the hidden row numbers. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum

When the "hidden" rows are unhidden, atr they still There? Im wondering if in fact, instead of filtering them, they are being deleted?

I assume you are referring to a row number that is in a specific column in your spreadsheet? If so, double check that the filter is applied to that column. You can set a filter and not have it on all columns. Just a guess...

@ Gorgia...If a row is hidden/filtered for 1, it is hidden/filtered for all rows, so that row will be "missing" in all columns on that sheet

May be the Filtered Criteria Text is Present on all of the Top rows so that it is showing as continuous rows, since it's matching the criteria
