Disable workbook from being printed or emailed

    Hi everybody,

Our company holds vital company information in a shared workbook, is it possible to disable it from being printed? And is it possible to disable it from being made out as an attachment to an email?

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Someone could Print Screen into another program (i.e paint) so another option to disable as well. Plus someone could also take a picture of it(Camera/cell,etc.). Cover all angles

If you are trying to do this in just excel, FYI you can open the workbooks with macros disabled rending this moot.

If you are trying to do this for all files on windows, you need to refer to your IS/IT department they can enable and disable certain functionality at the user level.

Thanks but I'll deal with each issue one at a time. The spreadsheet is over a thousand rows long so snapping a picture of each screen section in front of other co-workers i'm not worried about.

If someone wants to copy the contents of the file they can. All you can do is make it more difficult. Your best defence it to only distribute it to people who are trusted by the company to have this data and who will treat it according to company policy.

In all fairness, Excel was never made for storing 'secret' information. Anyone with a good knowledge of the security issues will be able to get around anything you throw at them. Of course, these aren't your typical Excel users, but you never know... it may the guy a few cubicles down. You can read data from closed Excel books, use other programs to open Excel files, upload Excel files to online websites (e.g. Microsoft SkyDrive), etc. So if someone really wants at the data, and you hand them an Excel file, they can probably get at the data.

No the answer you probably hoping for, but it's better for you (and your bosses) to be prepared rather than have a security breach.
